GM Chris Drury's Major Announcement on Rangers Captain Jacob Trouba
We're just a day away from NHL Training Camps firing up, as the Rangers get ready to compete for a shot at the Stanley Cup.
The Rangers had made some small additions, as GM Chris Drury thought he didn't need to make a big splash to keep the Rangers competitive.
They added Reilly Smith, and Sam Carrick, re-signed Chad Ruhwedel, and signed Casey Fitzgerald.
All in all, a fairly status quo offseason, as they need to save money for the team for future contracts.
But the team will plan for the season, and the leader of the locker room and team Jacob Trouba will reign for another season.
And planning has started as Trouba, Chris Drury and Head Coach Peter Laviolette have begun discussions regarding the future of the team.
So despite, the team's attempt to trade Trouba, the team will move into this next season, with hopes of another deep run into the playoffs.
«He is very clear as to where he stands with me and what I think of him as a player and as a leader. I think he's done a real good job here. As a captain, there's so many moving parts that go in and out of being captain, especially in New York and especially the Rangers captain. Excited to have him back, excited for training camp. I know he had a terrific offseason, training wise.»
Trouba holds the responsibility of being Rangers Captain with honor, and will not falter as this season is important for the team.
