King of the Ring: Matt Rempe is the Rangers Best fighter
As Rangers training camp will fire up soon, players will fight for jobs and sometimes we mean that literally.
As exhibition games continue, we should expect to see more literal fights on the ice.
Who could be the best fighter that the Rangers have?
Matt Rempe. Who is built perfectly for the enforcer role in the NHL.
1. He's 6-8, 240 pounds which automatically makes him the biggest and heaviest player in Bettman, Inc.
"Fighting," said Sutter. "Was something that had to be done. It wasn't so much that I had to prove how tough I was, but that as a team, we had to stand up to that type of opposition. And I always figured I was the guy to do it."
You could compare the career with the St. Louis Blues Captain Brian Sutter, it's arguable that Sutter would love Rempe.
Why should we love Rempe the enforcer?
2. That means The Remper owns the longest reach to pound enemy heads and also that Matty's head is so high it's harder to reach.
Rempe stood his ground against some of the top enforcers in the NHL last season, including former heavyweight champion, Ryan Reaves.
3. The Skating Giraffe also understands that he has become the titular leader of Blueshirt enforcers; which means where an S.O.S. - as in Sock On Sock - is necessary, he will be ready.
Rempe sought to improve his fighting skills by enlisting former NHL enforcer, Georges Laraque to save his grey matter and his health.
4. Diligently, Rempe spent part of the summer training under ex-NHL heavyweight Georges Larocque. By the time Georges finished the course, Matt had his Master's Degree in Mauling.
Rempe is the ONLY tough guy, in the lineup, as Trouba is here to lay the body but isn't known for dropping the gloves. But Rempe is.
5. When you think about it - apart from Rempe - there really isn't any Tom Wilson - Murderer's Row - type guy in the lineup and, please, don't tell me it's Jacob Trouba. Source: The Hockey News
