It seems that Ryan Lindgren could end up returning to the New York Rangers lineup. He's been regularly skating at practice and was reported to be wearing a regular jersey on the 14th.

Lindgren (upper body) practiced in full during Monday's game-day skate, Vince Z. Mercogliano of USA Today reports.

Lindgren isn't eligible to come off injured reserve until Thursday's matchup with Detroit but seems to be making positive strides in his recovery. Considering the 26-year-old defenseman has never reached the 20-point threshold during his five-year NHL career, fantasy managers probably shouldn't be banking on him offering much in terms of fantasy value even once cleared to return.
Lindgren suffered an upper-body injury which kept him out of the lineup for the beginning of the regular season. The injury occurred after he fought Scott Mayfield, who leveled Filip Chytil.

With the return of the "warrior" imminent, the Rangers will have to make a tough decision regarding the status of defenseman Victor Mancini.

Mancini has proven himself to be a capable defenseman in the NHL, but Peter Laviolette will have to decide if there's a spot for the rookie in the lineup, when Lindgren can easily fill the role, with better success.

Mancini scored his 1st NHL goal in 4 games against the Detroit Red Wings and played 17:37 time on ice.

Quite a bit of usage for a rookie in the NHL, especially so green.

Mancini has been on the third-pairing with Zac Jones, and Lindgren's return would push K'Andre Miller down in the lineup.

So the Ranger will have to send Mancini back to the AHL in order for him to continue developing as a defenseman. The position role in the NHL continues to be highly valued and Mancini's proven to be a valuable fill-in while Lindgren heals up.

It takes upwards of 5 years for a defenseman to fully develop in the NHL, so he will benefit from playing top-minutes in Hartford.

Mancini will take on the role as the Wolfpack's best defenseman and serve as a call-up in the future should another injury rise in the defense core.
