The New York Rangers and Toronto Maple Leafs will face off Saturday, in Scotiabank Arena.

The Rangers will get their first taste of what could be playoff hockey against the Berube-led, Maple Leafs.

According to The Hockey News, they feel that the Maple Leafs could finish first in the Atlantic.

"The mediocre way Florida is playing," says The Old Scout, "Toronto could finish first."

The Maple Leafs and the Rangers are interesting competitors, as both teams have been Cupless for over 30 decades, the Rangers since 1994.

Maple Leafs, of course, that old chant that never dies: "1967" it's like Freebird for some hockey fans on the internet.

While the Rangers made it to the Eastern Conference Finals last season, the Maple Leafs were bounced early by the rival, Boston Bruins in a typical first-round exit fashion.

The best part of the clash on the ice tomorrow night will be seeing two offensive powerhouses go head-to-head, as Artemi Panarin and Auston Matthews will be who to watch. Matthews was limited to only 69 goals last season.

"Matthews and William Nylander will combine for somewhere around 100 goals," says Casey Ippolito in The Hockey News Yearbook, "while John Tavares and Mitch Marner should eclipse 20 apiece."

Arguably the Maple Leafs defense is not so great, compared to the Rangers who have been great at suppressing the opposition, and the Penalty Kill this season is fantastic.

Now they will have a shot to try their best against true competition in the NHL.

With Igor Shesterkin in the net, the Rangers will have a better shot at stopping stars, like Mitch Marner, William Nylander, and Auston Matthews.

If Shesterkin can shut the door early on Matthews, and Marner and keep the Leafs scoreless, it's arguable he's worth every penny of the contract he's arguing for.

The Maple Leafs are new and rejuvenated, with Craig Berube behind the bench, and Anthony Stolarz in the net.

It depends upon the Rangers to score by committee, and for key forwards to make the victory a sure thing.
