His brilliance was on display in Game 3 as the Panthers were mounting a charge towards the Rangers but prevented the inevitable win by the Panthers. He faced a barrage of shots after the Panthers tied it at 4-4 to which many goaltenders in the NHL would have crumbled under the pressure. Shesterkin stood his ground and prevailed.
This season was uneven for Shesterkin as he had gone through dips in his performances during the regular season especially in December and January. Many pundits and Rangers fans felt that sister can was not the answer to take them all the way and that veteran goaltender Jonathan quick would fill in and help preserve the season.
Quick did that very thing and allow Shesterkin to get his composure back and after the All-Star break which showed he was ready to make the adjustments, Shesterkin went down the stretch with a phenomenal record which led into the playoffs and put the Rangers where they are now.
Through thirteen playoff games, he has one ten of them with a goal against 2.33 and a save percentage of .925.
The Rangers will resume their series as Game four is set to begin on May 28th. Puck drop will be at 8:00 PM eastern.
