A battle between two rival sport cities, original six members, oh, and a fight for first place in the standings!

The Rangers and Bruins are going to battle it out later today to determine which one of these two teams will take possession of being the number one ranked team in the league at this point of the season!

It is the first of three games between the two teams. Both will be playing the second game of a back-to-back.

The Rangers beat the Philadelphia Flyers 3-1, while the Bruins lost 5-2 to the Detroit Red Wings yesterday.

The Rangers currently own the lowest goals-against average in the league at 2.22, as they overtook Boston yesterday who previously had the lowest.

The Rangers sit with the second best record in the league at 14-3-1 for 29 points, also second with point percentage at .806 in 18 games played.

The Bruins sit at first in the league with a 14-2-3 record for 31 points, and also first at point percentage in 19 games played.

The Rangers can overtake both marks owned by the Bruins with a win today.

The Rangers will not have a morning skate after playing an early game on back-to-back days.

Head coach Peter Laviolette will address the media at 11 a.m. ET. We should also have an announcement on the starter for goaltender at that time.

Most likely will be the rejuvenated Jonathan Quick, who has played spectacularly this season!

The Rangers will be playing at Madison Square Garden today. Broadcast will be on MSG and FUBO at 1p.m ET.
