Let's not forget, arguably the best goaltender in the league and former Vezina Trophy winner, Igor Shesterkin, being the backbone to this team.
Expectations are high with this team. They will be competing against strong foes for the Metropolitan division crown, with long time rivals of the New Jersey Devils, and three straight time division champions, the Carolina Hurricanes.
The Rangers' will want to avenge how last season ended, especially since it's the second time in a row the team has blown a 2-0 lead in the playoffs.
The 2021-2022 Eastern Conference Finals against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and last season in the first round against the New Jersey Devils, ended in disappointment after a promising start to the series, winning both games 5-1.
The Rangers' had the talent to beat both of these opponents, but with poor in game decision making and lack of details, the series was lost. Laviolette Is expected to change these deficiencies for the team.
The Rangers' will no doubt make the playoffs, it's what they do in the playoffs they will be judged on.
