Rangers General manager Chris Drury continues to search for inexpensive defenseman in free agency which leads them to becoming a front runner for Oliver Kylington.

Kylington is a 27-year-old defenseman who has been with the Calgary Flames the past three seasons. He had become a fixture on their defence core as he would average 18 minutes a game and he has put up 31 points in 73 games played.
Throughout his career he has played 201 games, scored seventeen goals with 38 assists for 55 points and as a + 24 with 52 penalty minutes. He averages 15 minutes a game and he would certainly look like a viable solution for the Rangers who are trying to improve their bottom 3 defensemen.
Kylington's previous contract with the Flames had a two-year deal at $2.5 million per season. With the Rangers relatively cap strapped and looking for bargains, a player like Kylington would need to take a significant pay cut to fit within the Rangers budget as they are currently over the cap.
If the Rangers are interested it's likely they will try to move a few players around it under two accommodate his salary which could come in around $1,000,000 a year.
It remains to be seen on whether this will happen, but in the meantime, he could fit with the Rangers need.
