Matthew Rempe last season was well known for his fights and his physical play.

He got into a fight in his first game at the Stadium Series last year against the New York Islanders, fighting . He also got into a fight with Nick Deslauriers of the Flyers and Kurtis MacDermond against the Devils in the infamous five vs five brawl. Meaning, he fought in all rivalry games in the second part of the year.

Well, it looked like he wanted to get better at fighting and improve his physical aspect of the game, as he was seen training with Georges Laraque, a former NHL enforcer.

However, fans are worried that he'll only be good for fighting and be a goon.

Rempe shut that down, as on The New York Post, he said that he and teammate Chris Kreider have a training plan in place to work on his offense.

«I'm going to stay right here and train with Kreids the rest of the summer. I want to go in there, earn a role, go in there, take strides from last year and go into camp, work my bag off every day and show them I can be an effective player and show that I've taken big steps from last season. I've got to earn it, I have to earn everything. I'm excited to do that»

At the beginning of his career, Kreider was seen as a physical guy with a high offensive side, but didn't really show that yet. He worked on it, and is now producing 30-goal seasons.

Kreider can help Rempe become a more well-rounded asset on the Rangers instead of just being known as the guy who fights all the time. This can be really good for Rempe.
