New York Rangers star Vincent Trocheck under fire from fans for his controversial Halloween costume

On Wednesday night the New York Rangers seemed to be having some type of a team Halloween party as many players shared their costumes on social media.

However, New York Rangers forward Vincent Trocheck is receiving backlash for him and his wife's choice of a costume.

It seems that every year once Halloween rolls around there's at least one person who takes their costume to far, whether it be a normal person, professional athlete, or celebrity. Unfortunately this year it's New York Rangers star Vincent Trocheck and his wife after she chose to post their costumes on social media.

Despite the situation, the two quickly realized their mistake and removed the post from Instagram, but considering the time frame they did have the photo up, fans and people made sure to take screenshots and save the photo. Resulting in the two facing a ton of backlash the following morning.

For those who don't know, Trocheck and his wife Hilary came dressed up as Erik and Lyle Menendez, who have been in the news recently after a Netflix documentary series about their horrific crimes became popular.

As one reporter pointed out, it's ok to have interest in their story, but to be completely tone deaf to the situation and plan these costumes and then proceed to post them online is a big no no, especially from a a veteran NHL forward.

It still remains unknown if Trocheck will face any penalties or discipline for his controversial costume from the National Hockey League or even the New York Rangers.
