New York Rangers Win Big In Season Opener Against Buffalo Sabres.
The New York Rangers have gotten off to an incredible start of the 2023-2024 season with a nice 5-1 over the Buffalo Sabres.
Head coach, Peter Laviolette, should be pleased with how the team showed up in their season opener.
Getting incredible performances from several key contributors in the team effort.
Alexis Lafrenière showed up big time to score the first goal of the season for the Rangers', only three minutes and 47 seconds into the start of the game.
Silencing for now, those who have doubted him after a disappointing preseason.
Chris Kreider scored a pair of goals, one being a man up in a power play after a hooking call on winger,
Zach Benson, with 7:38 left at the first, giving the Rangers' a 2-0 lead.
The other, being a man down after a tripping call from
Vincent Trocheck, getting a shorthanded goal, to give the Rangers' a 4-1 lead.
Of course, we cannot forget about
Igor Shesterkin. Stopping 23, of 24 shots and going 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, on his way to winning his 100th game.
Other standouts being winger,
Artemi Panarin, getting a goal and an assist and being a presence for nearly 16 minutes on ice.
Center,
Mika Zibanejad, with three assists and creating shots for everyone. The captain,
Jacob Trouba, hitting the nail on the coffin in the end, to seal the 5-1 victory on an empty net goal.
Finally defensemen,
Ryan Lindgren, with some incredible hustle, blocking shots and making the Rangers' penalty kill shine bright.
The New York Rangers will look to build on this great start when they visit the Columbus Blue Jackets, Saturday, October 14, at the Nationwide Arena, in Columbus, Ohio.
