On Saturday afternoon, a former 4th overall pick was placed on waivers for the purpose of contract termination, which gave the Rangers a perfect chance shake up their roster once again.

On Saturday several insiders confirmed that the Pittsburgh Penguins Pittsburgh Penguins have placed former 4th overall pick, Jesse Puljujarvi on the waiver wire for the purpose of mutually terminating his contract.
Puljujarvi (PIT) on unconditional waivers to terminate
Puljujarvi is in his second year of a 2-year contract he signed with the Penguins with a cap hit of $800,000 a season.
Giving General Manager Chris Drury and the New York Rangers a perfect opportunity to make a move. With the Rangers desperately trying to change things up with their roster to make a final push for a wild card spot, Drury could have acquired Puljujarvi for free without giving up any assets.
Puljujarvi was originally drafted by the Edmonton Oilers in the 2016 NHL Entry Draft, 4th overall, but hasn't truly established himself to be a full time NHL player.
