The report states that the Rangers would send defenseman K'Andre Miller to the Wild in exchange for veteran defenseman Jonas Brodin. On paper this trade does not make sense Because it's unlikely that jury would make a straight swap for one player for another especially being seven years older then Miller.
Staple peeled back some of this trade rumor it has noticed that Brodin would give the Rangers a top pairing defenseman who would be a player that would be an anchor to their defence core as he has played in the NHL for 13 years. He also plays over 22 minutes a game and would be a replacement for the now departed Jacob Trouba.
Miller on the other hand will be looking for a decent raise as he is a restricted free agent after this season with his deal of $3.87 million coming to an end. It's a strong possibility that he may not sign with the Rangers and bringing a player like Brodin in would solidify their defense.
The Rangers have been in flux for the past several weeks as trade rumors have been flying around the Big Apple and the Rangers had made a major trade earlier last weekend when Jacob Trouba was sent to the Anaheim Ducks.
Drury Is still not satisfied on how his team is configured and how it's been playing which has led to more speculation including the move of Miller out of New York.
The Rangers are currently sitting first in the wild card and are one point up on both the Tampa Bay Lightning and the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Rangers have fallen dramatically over the past several games as the record now stands at 15-12-1 for 31 points through 28 games. After roaring out of the gate, the Rangers have looked awful at times and it's clear that change is needed.
These are certainly tense times around the Rangers dressing room and hopefully general manager Drury will find a way to turn things down or make the changes he needs an allow the Rangers to regroup and get back on track.
