It's been a whirlwind in the Rangers organization as general manager Chris Drury continues to remake his team as he has shipped out two key players in captain Jacob Trouba to the Anaheim Ducks and Kappo Kakko to the Seattle Kraken.
It seems that Drury is looking to move Vesey as he remained on the fourth line of the Rangers and has been giving decent production since returning to the team. It's been reported that the cost to picking up this player would be a fourth or fifth round draft pick.
The 31-year-old forward was pegged to be a superstar in the NHL after having a great college career.
He played for Harvard University and was quite disappointing when he arrived in the NHL with the Rangers for his first go around. After stops with the Buffalo Sabres, Toronto Maple Leafs, Vancouver Canucks and the New Jersey Devils he chose to return to the Rangers in 2022-2023 where he's had solid production.
Over the last two seasons where he's played nearly every game, he has scored 11 and 13 goals for 25 and 26 points while playing an average of 12 1/2 minutes of ice time.
It's clear that Drury wants to do a retool of the Rangers as their season has spiraled out of control and continues to bottom out.
No one saw this coming, and many felt for the Rangers who are relatively the same from last season and had 55 wins and the best team in the NHL would not be playing like this.
But the problems have become too great, and the team struggles for trust as they continue to wind through these tough times and see how the team will look when Drury is finished.
