Peter Laviolette addresses the New York Rangers first line and their lack of consistency
New York Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette addresses his first line of Chris Kreider, Mika Zibanejad and Reilly Smith.
The New York Rangers first line has been off to an interesting start as the three seem to blending well each other but also have been inconsistent with putting up points.
Ultimately the trio hasn't been able to generate enough offensive pressure throughout the start of season, leaving many quite surprised.
Recently we have seen a decrease in the first lines minutes as a result of the lack of production, leaving the Filip Chytil, Kaapo Kakko and Will Cuylle line to evolve into a solid combination.
It's important to note that it hasn't been all bad for these three veterans, but Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette took the time to address the issue and share what he expects from them.
«I think it changes from game to game,» Laviolette said about what he wants to see from the Kreider, Zibanejad and Smith line. «I think it's just about finding that consistency with them game after game after game, where nine out of ten times I'm happy with it. It's just the consistency. They are capable players, they are good players.»
With the amount of talent the first line holds, it's without a doubt that things will soon change and the trio will eventually start producing more points, as Kreider and Zibanejad have been solid through years they've been alongside each other.
So far the New York Rangers currently hold a record of 6-2-1 and are in fourth place amongst the Metropolitan division, so there's no real reason to start panicking now.
