Peter Laviolette confirms Artemi Panarin's status for final preseason game
The New York Rangers receive unfortunate news as the National Hockey Leagues regular season quickly approaches.
On Tuesday, October 1st when the New York Rangers faced the New Jersey Devils for a preseason matchup, Rangers superstar Artemi Panarin had exited the game during the first period and never returned.
It was then later confirmed by the New York Rangers PR team on the social media platform X, that Artemi Panarin was sidelined with a lower-body injury and would not return to the game.
UPDATE: Artemi Panarin (lower body) will not return tonight.
However, and now with the National Hockey League's regular season set to begin next week, the New York Rangers are more than likely to be missing their leading scorer, Artemi Panarin.
New reports have surfaced stating that Artemi Panarin was absent from today's(Thursday's) practice and is now considered day-to-day with a lower body injury, as per Vince Z. Mercogliano:
No Panarin at practice today. #NYR say he's day to day.
Panarin was injured during Tuesday nights game against the Devils, for the second time this pre-season as he was sidelined during a game against the New York Islanders a week prior, due to a lower-body injury.
During today's practice, Rangers rookie Brennan Othmann filled in on the top six and skated with Vincent Trocheck and Alexis Lafreniere.
#NYR practice lineup:
Kreider - Zib - Smith
Othmann - Trocheck - Laf
Cuylle - Chytil - Kakko
Edström - Carrick - Rempe
Miller - Fox

Brodzinski is rotating in with 4L. Berard and Ruhwedel also getting reps.
The New York Rangers close their pre-season on this Friday with a game against the Islanders and begin their regular season next Wednesday on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins.
New update regarding Artemi Panarin's status for Friday nights game against the New York Islanders
Just a few moments ago Vince Z. Mercogliano just announced that Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has confirmed Panarin will be out for tomorrow nights game and who his replacement will be:
Lavi reiterated that Panarin is day-to-day. Didn't want to comment on his availability for opening night. Basically said they're taking it one day at a time.
