At his postgame press conference, Laviolette sounded much like a broken record stating that the Rangers did not execute and did not perform at the high level that they had grown accustomed to and that he also understood why the fans at Madison Square Garden booed the Rangers off the ice.
During the game it seemed that the Rangers were inept at making simple passes and even connecting on 20-foot passes while taking care of their defensive zone. Laviolette expressed that it was unacceptable for how they played against the last place Blackhawks who also are struggling and just relieved their head coach Luke Richardson last week.
Laviolette that was also asked if he saw some positive signs in his dressing room and if the leadership group has made some changes to help gain composure and get back control. The head coach felt that some positive signs were showing but not during this game.
The Rangers seem to be in complete disarray and cannot seem to find the rhythm they had last year. General manager Chris Drury's tactics maybe also affecting the team and putting everybody on edge or turning themselves off towards the organization.
The Blueshirts need a win and they need a win soon as this could help turn the tide and maybe slow the damage but for the time being it's likely this poor play and self destruction will continue for the Rangers which could end up costing Laviolette's job.
The Rangers will have a chance to shake off this loss as they head back on the road and head across the state to play against the Buffalo Sabres. Game time will be 7:00 PM eastern on December 11th.
