The New York Rangers will have Igor Shesterkin in the net tonight against the Blackhawks, and he issued a statement upon his return.

The highest-paid goalie in the NHL is now Igor Shesterkin after he and GM Chris Drury came to terms this weekend. His 8-year, $11.5 Million AAV deal has put him above Carey Price in terms of value and has eased his mind after it's ended.

Shesterkin has won the Vezina Trophy, and was part of the President's Trophy winning squad in 2023-2024, but is excited to be done and over with the contract negotiations.

"Sometimes it was pretty hard, especially after bad games," admitted the Rangers star netminder. "You just try to go to the next day. But it follows you and everyone talks about it."

Not to mention soon after sealing the deal, he welcomed a daughter into the world. A moment of pure joy for the young goaltender.

"I'm so happy right now," said Shesterkin on Monday.

Shesterkin has his life set, a new contract, a daughter, and a loving family he can count on. Now he has set his eyes on the ultimate prize in the NHL and isn't backing down with his latest comment.

"We will try to bring the Cup back to New York," said Shesterkin when addressing the media.

While he spared no sympathies for those he will face in the net soon, he spared a moment of gratitude for Rangers fans who have stuck with them through thick and thin.

"I just want to thank all Rangers fans because they support us so hard and we will play for them, play for our families," said Shesterkin.

The fans have shown him a huge amount of love, and compassion and have welcomed him into the city. He feels at home in the Big Apple.

"We love this city. Me, my wife, my parents, all my friends," added Shesterkin. "We're happy to be here the next eight years."

Shesterkin has activated his dad powers and will return more motivated than before it sounds like.

Bad news for all opposing NHL squads.
