Late night trade: New York Rangers officially miss out on highly regarded offensive trade candidate
The New York Rangers and General Manager Chris Drury miss out an another highly regarded offensive trade candidate as he was dealt in a late night trade.
According to a report from Vince Z. Mercogliano, the New York Rangers were showing interest in 27-year old centre Tommy Novak, but ultimately failed to secure him.
That's an interesting one. I like it for Pittsburgh. Both Novak (who has been on the #NYR radar) and Schenn have years left on their deals, so it sets them up nicely for next season.
The reason the Rangers failed to secure Tommy Novak, is because he was dealt in a trade on Wednesday night between the Nashville Predators and the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Friedman was right as it was later confirmed by Penguins organization, here's a look at the full trade details:
The Penguins have acquired defenseman Luke Schenn and forward Tommy Novak from @PredsNHL in exchange for Michael Bunting and a 2026 fourth-round draft pick.
Considering he has been held out the Rangers lineup for three consecutive games, and has been linked to several organizations over the last week.
Do you think Tommy Novak would have been a good fit for the New York Rangers? Let us know in the poll down below.
