The New York Rangers reveal shocking list of untouchables as the NHL trade deadline approaches
The hockey world is gearing up for one of the most entertaining times of the year -- the March 7th trade deadline. That said, GM Chris Drury has an extremely tough task ahead of him as he looks to improve the team. While Drury will undoubtedly be making some additions, there are certain players listed as untouchable.
It's been a disappointing 2024-25 NHL campaign for the New York Rangers to say the least.
After a hot start to the season, the team rapidly cooled off and has struggled to maintain any level of consistency.
While the team has certainly has it's fair share of underperforming players, some members of the team have been extremely good. As it stands, you can count on these players being "safe" at the deadline.
New York Rangers list their untouchables
There probably shouldn't be much debate about this one. Yes, as we recently acknowledged, Igor Shesterkin hasn't been at his best for the most part this season, which is part of the reason for the Blueshirts' struggles in 2024-25.
As of now, Adam Fox is only on pace for 66 points this season compared to last season when he was averaging over a point per game. Even with the production dip, the Jericho, New York native still ranks inside the top five amongst all NHL defensemen in points this season.
Like Fox and Shesterkin, 2024-25 hasn't been Artemi Panarin's greatest season as a Ranger - and yet he has still averaged more than a point per game this season. While he hasnt had the best season, look ahead to next year for the Russian forward to bounce-back.
With the Rangers in full sell mode, it makes little sense for them to even consider trading their top prospect in the organization. In the last two seasons, Gabe Perreault has dominated the NCAA, registering 104 points in 69 games.
Surprisingly, the New York Rangers have clawed their way back into the playoff picture.
The Blue Shirts currently hold the last wildcard spot in the Eastern Conference, and I fully expect Chris Drury to make huge splashes at the trade deadline, in addition to the NHL offseason.
While the New York Rangers will be going through massive roster changes in the coming days, the above listed will remain part of the organization moving forward.
