New York Rangers snaps back and defend themselves of recent accusations of tampering
The The New York Rangers have been accused of tampering by one of the Senators top executives, and now the war of words rages on.
With news of the New York Rangers' interest in Brady Tkachuk making the waves, the Senators have repudiated every rumor spoken in the media about a possible now.
From Steve Staios refuting them yesterday, and now Michael Andlauer, owner of the Ottawa Senators accused the New York Rangers of tampering on Monday.
The accusation could level serious consequences against the Rangers when Bill Daly announced they'd be investigating tampering that may have happened in July.
With serious accusations coming from Andlauer and the Senator's camp, the Rangers front office is escalating the conflict to the NHL commissioner.
"This is an irresponsible accusation and we defer to the Commissioner's office," said the Rangers in a statement.
Forwarding the comments to the NHL commissioner would be a logical next step, given that Chris Drury never made those statements run by a piece in the New York Post recently.
Kevin Weekes would confirm that there was no legitimacy to the rumors regarding the Rangers and Brady Tkachuk:
Additionally, NHL insider Kevin Weekes published a report on Monday that appears to lend credibility to the Rangers side of the story, indicating that he does not believe that the potential acquisition of Brady Tkachuk was ever discussed by the Rangers.
We have yet to see the ramifications of this conflict, but it could set a precedent for how the league responds to these scenarios.
It'll be interesting to see how Bill Daly, and Gary Bettman decide the next steps, and whether the Senators receive discipline or not.
