As the news rippled across the NHL with the firing of head coach Derick Lalonde of the Detroit Red Wings, All pundits and fan bases will focus their eyes on the New York Rangers and head coach Peter Laviolette.

The Rangers are currently mired in the worst slump in recent memory where the team has lost 13 games out of their last 17 and it appears this death spiral cannot stop and has not reached bottom yet.
It's been reported that the Rangers management cannot bear firing another coach after they have let 2 coaches go in less than four years.
With the record of Lalonde being on a similar path to Laviolette, something needs to give, and the Rangers may have no choice but to release Laviolette from his duties.
It's certainly an incredible sight to see the Rangers go through this colossal collapse after they were the best team in the NHL in the regular season last year and set a record of wins of 55. It's become clear that the Rangers decisions on players have become the main culprit to why the Rangers are spiraling down.
The team cannot seem to find its way out of this hole and the players continue to lose games it looked completely unorganized and unwilling to compete with the opposition which is not how they looked earlier this year when they came out of the gate with a record of 12-4-0.
This brutal losing streak has all but made it impossible for the Rangers to finish the season in the top three of the metropolitan division and will now have to battle for one of the wild card spots which is becoming increasingly difficult as other teams are starting to tighten their teams up and winning more games.
In my opinion the blame falls squarely on the decisions that were made with certain players including their captain who was beloved by the players and was forced out of the Rangers organization through means that were not right.
Losing Jacob Trouba, Barclay Goodrow and even Kappo Kakko has hurt the balance of this dressing room and the losing streak is the result.
