New York Rangers defenseman has been linked to an unexpected Stanley Cup contender as general manager Chris Drury continues to try and shake up his roster.

The New York Rangers will look remarkably different if GM Chris Drury has his way. It appears that there is another defenseman who is being shopped on the market, Ryan Lindgren.
Lindgren was signed to a one-year, $4.5 Million AAV deal and could be the next Ranger player to be out of the organization soon.
He has failed to "prove it" and GM Chris Drury is shopping the defenseman to contenders.
One of them according to The Athletic's Arthur Staple is the Tampa Bay Lightning, who haven't been Florida's top team in some time.
Lindgren could benefit from a fresh start in Tampa Bay and could bolster a blueline that lacks considerable depth this year.
Ryan Lindgren: Perhaps Drury will hold onto Lindgren and make a move closer to March 7 to maximize the return, but it certainly appears that the 26-year-old is nearing the end of his Rangers tenure. He's been a heart-and-soul player during his five-year Rangers run, but the broken jaw he suffered in a preseason fight plus the team's ever-worsening defense have combined to make Lindgren a shadow of what he was as a Ranger. The Tampa Bay Lightning just lost young left-handed defenseman J.J. Moser for two months, so that could be a good landing spot for Lindgren.
Lindgren is set to go the way of Jacob Trouba, a once revered leader in the Rangers system. Whose not afraid to lay the body, or protect his teammates and now is on the trade block, as the Rangers "reset" or "re-tool" depending on how you look at it.
In 26 games this season Lindgren has scored 4 points( 1 G, 3 A) with a -4 rating on the ice.
Lindgren could prove to be a good rental for a contending team, and with the Lightning missing Moser on the blueline, means that a spot could be open for him to find a new home in Tampa Bay.
