Rangers Brennan Othmann calls out the Boston Bruins before tonights game
The Boston Bruins would receive a black eye on their preseason record, as they would lose 3-2 on September 22nd.
To pour salt on the wound, the Rangers' Brennan Othmann would go into tough-guy mode, checking the Bruins defenseman twice.
One hit sent to the locker room, but Othmann hit him again and caused Wotherspoon to get incensed and fight the youngster.
With just over seven minutes left in the first period, Othmann threw a late and high hit on Wotherspoon. Wotherspoon went down the tunnel after the hit but returned to the game for the second period. Othmann got Wotherspoon with another questionable hit during the second period, shortly before the fight.
This altercation in the NHL continues their past feuds in the AHL, Wortherspoon would drop the gloves after being fed up with Othmann.
He would show his much Othmann got into his head, after winning the fight, by throwing Othmann's helmet into the stands.
This resulted in Wotherspoon getting 2 extra minutes in the Penalty Box.
Othmann would then call out Wotherspoon, letting him know he didn't appreciate Wotherspoon, as he understood he had to answer the bell after two hits.
Othmann isn't wrong about answering the bell, as that doesn't change when you hit the NHL.
If Othmann is afraid of fighting, shouldn't Matt Rempe be stepping in to protect Othmann?
It appears Othmann himself might want to enlist Georges Laraque this year to learn how to protect himself, this season!
This seems like a personal hatred between the two could grow if the two go at it again tonight.
