TheNew York Rangers' lineup for the most part had looked status quo until this Thursday's practice. Jonny Brodzinski would find his way back into the lineup, taking line rushes with Filip Chytil and Chris Kreider.

Kaliyev will be a healthy scratch., after being in every game for the Rangers' since he was claimed off of waivers on January 6th.
Instead of taking reps, he'd ride the pine and observe practice something not normal for Kaliyev and the Blueshirts.
«I think there have been times where he's been good, he's been productive and that was just practice,» Peter Laviolette said. «I think there is room for growth and there are things that he's done well for us as well.»

Kaliyev would have to adjust as he was injured before he arrived in New York, with a fractured clavicle.
He'd be unable to play when he arrived in New York and wasn't played while he was available for the Kings.
,q>«Those are areas we talk to him about, showing him the speed of the game and the compete and the battles, but there have been times he has been good too and he has used that to his advantage to get his shot off. It's just about getting up to speed.»

Kaliyev will have to sit and adjust his game before he can find his way back into the lineup, as he's only scored 3 points ( 2 G, 1 A) in 10 games with the Rangers.
He's only been able to play 11:08 TOI per game since he's worn a Rangers uniform.
Now, he'll have to find comfort in the press box, as Jonny Brodzinski gets another look in the lineup.
Something he hasn't been able to get since he last played on January 11th for the Rangers.
Kaliyev arguably does deserve more time to gel with his new teammates, but with the team losing their last two Laviolette is making adjustments.
Kaliyev makes $825K AAV, and his contract will expire at the end of the season, as a pending RFA.
The Rangers will own his rights if they decide to tender him a qualifying offer which according to PuckPedia is $866K.
But can he get back into the lineup and earn it?
