There's reason to believe that Drury maybe weighing his options with Trouba as the evidence continues to mount of his declining play, uptick in injuries including a severe injury to his ankle during the playoffs and his diminishing foot speed.
He also has had defensive lapses in his own end and making costly mistakes and one of the most penalized teammates in the Rangers. Drury defends his captain of course saying he's a great player and brings his game every night.
But after July 1st it becomes interesting has his no movement clause will be switched over to a modified no trade and while holding an $8 million cap hit it's likely Drury would like to use some of that money elsewhere.
If a trade is crafted, there will be teams lining up to acquire his services as he would give a team a boost at the blue line.
Trouba played 69 games this year, scoring three goals with 19 assists for 22 points it was a - 4 with 73 penalty minutes. He also had seven points in 16 games for the playoffs while playing with a hobbled ankle.
This summer will be fascinating for the Rangers as major decisions are needed to be done. It remains to be seen on whether Drury will make the change, but it appears they are open for business.
