Rangers Have A Date With First Original Six Foe Of The Season
The New York Rangers and the Detroit Red Wings are two of the oldest franchises in the history of the NHL, both formed in 1926, and are about to play their 603rd game against each other.
The Rangers unfortunately will be without the services of defenseman Adam Fox, and center Filip Chytil.
They will also be without Igor Shesterkin for this game as he is currently day-to-day with minor soreness.
He was out on the ice for practice yesterday, but left earlier than the rest of the team. Jonathan Quick will have the start in front of the net tonight.
Here is head coach Peter Laviolette, speaking on Shesterkin's status, plus the adjustment on defense without Adam Fox:
This wasn't going to be an easy game even with the team fully healthy.
Everyone needs to step up big time if they want to slow down one of the most explosive offenses in the league.
The Rangers have the personnel to get back in the win column tonight! Plus it'll help they will be back home in the greatest city in the world.
Milestone alert! The Rangers are 10 wins away from becoming the fifth franchise in NHL history to accomplish their 3000th win.
