Recent announcement confirms Patrik Laine's fate with the Rangers organization
Columbus Blue Jackets forwards fate with the New York Rangers has officially been confirmed.
It has officially been revealed by GM Don Waddell that only one team is showing interest in acquiring Patrik Laine from the Blue Jackets.
It has now been two weeks since the 26-year old forward has cleared the NHL Player's Assistance Program, and is now eligible to start looking for a new home after he requested a trade at the end of the 2023-24 season.
Blue Jackets GM, Don Waddell made a public statement, that the forward has not been getting the attention that the media had been claiming:
However, there hasn't been much interest in Laine's services just yet. GM Don Waddell told Brian Hedger of the Columbus Dispatch earlier this week that at this point, only one team has contacted him to express interest in acquiring his services.
Given where we are in the offseason, Waddell isn't particularly surprised nor does he expect the situation to change in the near future:
It has been rumoured that Laine's asking price is draft picks and prospect, a cost that the New York Rangers cannot afford at this time, a long with many other organizations.
