Tonight, the Hartford Wolf Pack begin their 27th season of American Hockey League in Providence against the rival Bruins, with the exciting debut of several players, including a key prospect for the Rangers.
Brennan Othmann was drafted in the 2021 NHL Draft first round, 16th overall, by the Rangers.
There was speculation he might have joined the team to start the regular season. Rangers' director of player personnel and amateur scouting, John Lilley, said of his chances of making the team out of training camp:
"Well, he's an excellent player. He has offense. He's feisty. He plays a good two-way game. It is the next step."
Another prospect for the Rangers', Dylan Garand, is also expected to make a start this weekend.
