The Calgary Flames are in the midst of accepting the fact they are going to need to blow up the team.

Their current record is 5-8-2. Anything can happened since it's still early in the season, but chances are they aren't making the playoffs.

Of note, they do have some promising players they might be considering to trade to start the rebuild process.

Some names like defenseman Nikita Zadorov and right winger, Elias Lindholm, are getting thrown out there as potential trade options.

Byron Bader, an NHL draft consultant, has suggested potential prospects the Flames could try to acquire to kickstart their future with the players they currently have on the roster.

The name we Rangers fans will notice on this list, is Gabe Perreault, the 23rd overall draft pick in the 2023 NHL Draft.

He has been killing it in Boston College where he is committed to play for the 2023-2024 season.

The 18 year old has two goals, 13 assists and 15 points total. He leads Boston College in points, assists, and plus/minus this season. This kid is a future stud.

The Rangers are in win now territory.

They definitely need to figure out that top right wing role by the trade deadline ahead of the playoffs.

Out of the players of interest on Calgary, Lindholm is the player of interest. He would be a massive improvement over Blake Wheeler.

But I don't know if it's worth giving up a promising prospect for him, plus Calgary will want more for him than just the one prospect.

Let's see how things shape out as it unfolds.
