Friedman explains that the the New York Rangers archrival the New York Islandersmay be ready to make a pitch for Miller as it appears the Vancouver Canucks are preparing to make a trade for the star forward.
It was Canucks reporter Rick Dhaliwal who broke the news with Friedman as they interviewed him. Other teams have joined the fray including the Carolina Hurricanes and the New Jersey Devils as it's clear Miller would like to return in the United States.
Friedman also mentioned during his segment on Saturday night with Saturday headlines that the New York Rangers and the Vancouver Canucks were working diligently to try to make a trade which apparently bogged down and has remained quiet.
The Rangers general manager Chris Drury has been desperate to make a major change to his team even with some of the changes he's done including trading his captain Jacob Trouba to Anaheim. It's likely he feels the team needs more even though the team has stabilized over the past couple of weeks.
It was also revealed that Rangers insider David Upper and Canucks insider Thomas Drance we're reporting that the deal on the table was Filip Chytil, Ryan Lindgren and a 1st round for J.T Miller.
All eyes will be on the Rangers as the team will need to decide within the next couple of weeks two a month on whether the team will be a buyer, seller or bit of both as the team has begun winning games again and has risen in the standings.
