Still Too Early To Call Laviolette Hiring A Success?
The New York Rangers are on fire right now.
After sweeping a five-game West Coast road trip, ending with a 3-2 overtime win over the Winnipeg Jets last night, they finally get to make their way back home for a one-game home stand before heading back out on the road again the following night.
They are sitting pretty with a 7-2 record, on top of the Metropolitan Division, and head coach Peter Laviolette is a massive reason for that.
The players are buying into whatever Laviolette is selling, and it's showing with incredible results.
Here is the presser of last night's win over the Jets, and what Laviolette had to say about the record:
This road stretch has been huge to show what the team is capable of from Laviolette's coaching, and captain Jacob Trouba is seeing that too, despite the coaching change, this comes from NY Post beat writer for the New York Rangers, Mollie Walker:
"Whenever there's a new coaching staff, I guess in my previous experiences, you want to try to build and find that trust of your identity and who you are and what you're bringing every night. I think that Nashville's game was something that not an eye opener, but yeah we still got to figure out what makes us, us. And I think we did a good job of it this road trip and we're kind of figuring out the right recipe for us to win games."
There is still 73 games left in the season to truly judge how Laviolette coaches this team, plus the playoffs. But so far, nine games into the season? He gets an A in my book.
The Rangers return home for a one-game home stand in Madison Square Garden against the Carolina Hurricanes Thursday, November 2nd.
Milestone Alert!
The Rangers are 11 wins away from becoming the fifth franchise in league history to achieve 3,000 wins!
