The King Is Making A Triumphant Return!
Rangers' legend, Vezina Trophy winner, and hall of famer, Henrik Lundqvist, is suiting up for the first time since 2020!
He will be playing in the 2023 Hyundai HHOF Legends Classic with two star-studded teams led by Adam Oates & Joe Nieuwendyk.
He will be joining Nieuwendyk's team.
Lundqvist retired after requiring an open-heart surgery that was performed in January 2021.
He signed a one year deal with the Washington Capitals after he was bought out of his contract on September 2020 by the Rangers', making him a free agent for the first time in his career.
By that point, the emergence of Rangers goaltenders Alexandar Georgiev and
Igor Shesterkin were going to shape the way for the future.
Lundqvist has still been very active in the sport of hockey, he joined TNT as a rotating studio analyst in 2021, and was added to their roster full-time during the 202324 season.
It'll be fun to see him back on the ice, not only seeing him in great health, but to relive all the great moments he has delivered to the Rangers' franchise by watching him play once again.
The Hyundai Hockey Hall of Fame Legends Classic will be played Sunday, November 12, at Scotiabank Arena, in Toronto.
