They have complied their first back-to-back wins of the season, with road wins against the Seattle Kraken and the Calgary Flames, and improved to 4-2.
There's a lot to like! However, head coach Peter Laviolette is not completely satisfied with last night's 3-1 win over the Flames, and felt the team could have played much better.
It's true, the Rangers didn't play to their strengths last night, even though they won. They seemed a little more passive and let the game come to them, rather than snatching it themselves.
It was also bizarre with the early goal they allowed, just a minute and fifteen seconds into the game, giving flashbacks of the Nashville Predators and Columbus Blue Jackets losses and how the team performed in those two games.
Thankfully, the Rangers did flip the switch, especially in the second period.
They looked aggressive, and disciplined, as they limited the penalties.
It's great that Laviolette, even in victory, feels the team still has much to improve. It's this kind of mindset that we hope will take the Rangers into the promised land.
The Blueshirts are looking for their third straight victory, with the reeling Edmonton Oilers next on the docket, Thursday night, at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
They will be without the services of Connor McDavid, who is out 1-2 weeks with an upper-body injury.
