According to RG.org's Jimmy Murphy, the Boston Bruins are currently shopping defenseman Brandon Carlo ahead of the NHL trade deadline and the cost has been revealed of a second-round draft pick and a roster player.
Bruins' Expected Asking Price for Brandon Carlo Revealed.
Shopping Carlo is signaling that the Boston Bruins are preparing to be active at the NHL trade deadline on March 7th and likely will become a seller of some of their talent as the team has not performed this past year and may be outside of the playoffs at the end of the season.
Several teams will be calling Don Sweeney for Carlo
The New York Rangers will likely be one of those teams as general manager Chris Drury continues to remodel his lineup ahead of the trade deadline.
This type of defenseman is one that he would certainly be interested in as the 28-year-old defender stands at six foot 5, holding a right-handed shot an is a stay at home defenseman.
He also holds a $4.1 million cap hit through 2026-2027 which is very affordable for most teams especially ones that are contending for the Stanley Cup.
There must be such an odd relationship between Chris Drury and
Chris Kreider. Kreider definitely doesn't like how Drury has handled things with the #NYR starting with the Goodrow story, but I think it's safe to say he's only at the 4-nations because of Drury being assistant GM.
The Rangers will have several options that could entice Sweeney to make a deal with their Eastern Conference rival.
Rangers preparing for rush to the trade deadline
The Rangers are currently three points out of a playoff spot and are in a unique position as the team has resurged since their disastrous November in December stretch.
With the acquisition of
J.T. Miller coming back to the Rangers, it's likely that they will be buyers and sellers as several of their contracts are up for renewal and the team also would like to improve their position.
Rangers fans along with the rest of the NHL will wait and see how this trade deadline will shake out but it appears that change is on the horizon and many teams will make moves especially knowing that the salary cap is about to rise
exponentially over the next three years.
Many expect big names to be traded especially if deals cannot be made before free agency.
