The Rangers were playing like the best team in the league for the first 40 minutes of the game to build a 5-0 lead, and then turned into an almost completely different team for the final 20 to allow 3 straight goals from the Detroit Red Wings to cut it to 5-3.
Granted we won, but it was revealing the scars of the 3-0 blown lead against the Minnesota Wild Saturday.
We won, extend our point streak to 8 games, and maintain first place in the Metropolitan Division.
Had we not allowed those three goals in the end, we would be on par with the Boston Bruins and Vancouver Canucks for least amount of goals allowed in the league.
Nevertheless, there was a fantastic standout for me in this game, and it was the rookie Will Cuylle.
His presence was felt this game as he imposes his will on opposing players. Take a look at these hits:
He has been an absolute wrecking ball, ending the night with five hits! He leads the team with hits.
Lastly he scored the last goal for the Rangers from an assist coming from Zac Jones!
If you take the full game in hindsight, this was a good win. However, the Rangers need to secure these leads that they form.
It's something to keep an eye on moving forward.
Milestone Alert! With this win, The Rangers are nine victories away from becoming the fifth team in NHL history to record their 3,000th win!
