Transaction: New York Rangers to trade for Maple Leafs star before next season
The New York Rangers need something, anything, to put them over the line and get them a Stanley Cup. Well, there's this one winger who may be available over the offseason to trade for.
Toronto Maple Leafs winger Mitch Marner has been singled out on all Core Four talks within the organization and fanbase.
If one of the four is traded, it'll be him being the one who's singled out and shipped off somewhere else. But what if the Rangers make a move for him?
These two franchises, the Maple Leafs and the Rangers, are the two most valued franchises in the NHL, outside of the other original six organizations. Toronto is without a cup in 57 years, and New York is without a cup in 31 years. They both need a change and both teams have jobs on the line, so why not? Their fans are hungry.
No one really knows where Marner is going to go, either. Drury said «nothing is off the table,» and with his job on the line, why not try to make something work? Maybe the Leafs get offers and they aren't interested in any of them and Mitch stays there. Who knows? But if you're Drury, you may as well make an offer.
