Zac Jones reflects on what he needs to do better defensively with the New York Rangers
New York Rangers defenseman issues a statement on how he wants to improve his defensive skills so he can become more of a factor defensively'.
24-year old defenseman Zac Jones reveals what he needs to improve on to become a top defenseman in the National Hockey League.
It's without a doubt that Zac Jones has potential to become a very valuable asset to the New York Rangers long-term, as he's an impressive skater who displays great offensive instincts, which is rare for a young defenseman.

However, for the majority of the 2023-24 season and the start of this season, the New York Rangers have made Jones a healthy scratch, as he hasn't quite impressed Peter Laviolette enough to fully secure a roster spot.
Despite this, the young defenseman reveals what he can do to improve his defensive game, ultimately transforming him into being more of a factor defensively'.
«Really my work in the D-zone,» Jones said about what part of his game he is looking to build. «Just being aggressive, being harder on guys. Obviously I'm not going to be a guy that goes out and kills people, but just want to use my stick, use my feet, positioning stuff like that. Being more of a factor defensively.»
Definitely a skill that all defensive players need to have to secure a permanent roster spot, especially with the New York Rangers.
Throughout the six appearances Zac Jones has made this season with the Rangers, he managed to only tally two assists, while averaging 15:15 minutes of ice time.
