Rangers trade deadline plans very different this year
This seasons trade deadline has been marked as a change in strategy by general manager Chris Drury and his management staff.
Over the past couple of years, a defenseman or two were always in there lists for players who they would like to add to the team as they felt the defence was always in question.
But it seems this year the focus is now on the forward position as the team had suffered a major injury and emotion which has left the bottom 6 forwards vulnerable.
Erik Gustafsson, has had solid season with the Rangers.
Having played 60 games so far and scoring five goals with 21 assists for 26 points he has given the team stability as Vince Mercogliano has stated.
Igor Shesterkin has returned to his great play and the team is doing well defensively, the focus for offense becomes priority.
Several names have been mentioned in the rumor mill who the Rangers are looking at including Adam Henrique, Scott Laughton and Frank Vatrano.
With the NHL trade deadline less than seven days away, it's expected much will heat up as Drury will continue to work his phone and try to find the best deal possible.
