According to recent reports from Arthur Staple of The Athletic, the New York Rangers will be exploring the option of trading two veteran players.

The two players that are expected to be traded this season is Mika Zibanejad and Chris Kreider, both players surfaced in trade discussions this season, with general manager Chris Drury initiating talks as early as November, back when he traded Jacob Trouba.
33-year old, Chris Kreider still has two year remaining on his $6.5 million AAV contract but has dealt with several injuries over the years, making him hard to trade. If the Rangers could manage to find a suitor, a buyout is very possible, though it would leave cap hits of $3 million in 2025-26, $4 million in 2026-27, and $1.5 million for the following two seasons.
On then other hand, Mika Zibanejad carries an $8.5 million AAV through the 2029-30 season and has a full no-movement clause, making it almost impossible to trade him unless he agrees to waive it.
General Manger Chris Drury acknowledged that re-tooling on the fly was a necessary risk the organization needed, such as moving out veterans like Jacob Trouba, Ryan Lindgren, and Jimmy Vesey while acquiring players like J.T. Miller, Carson Soucy, and Will Borgen.
«Just trying to thread the needle, trying to make sure we got some assets back for the future, while trying to show the group I still believe in them,» Drury said.

The New York Rangers have recently made an appearance in the playoff wild card spot, but still remain a few points behind after tanking this past weekend.
However, K'Andre Miller and Will Cuylle are due for raises and Jonathan Quick's future remains uncertain, Drury just may need to clear a decent amount of cap space to maintain flexibility, and trading these veterans would give the Rangers enough space to make a big move.
Who do you think would be traded first if Drury decides to go that route? Let us know in the poll down below.
