Last Active NHL Player To Have Played In The 1990's Retires
Generations of people have not lived a time where Joe Thornton wasn't in the NHL.
Now the time has come for his well earned retirement.
Joe Thornton retires in a look only he could pull off well.
Drafted as the No. 1 overall pick from the Boston Bruins back in 1997, Thornton enjoyed an illustrious career that has spanned decades.
He has received the Art Ross and Hart Memorial Trophy as the league's leading point-scorer and most valuable player.
Joe Thornton even had a run to the 2016 Stanley Cup Finals.
Joe Thornton was the last active player in any of the major North American professional sports leagues to have played in the 1990s, and the last active NHL player to have played in an NHL game against the goat, Wayne Gretzky.
We, the NHL fandom, wish you a happy retirement.
Enjoy life with your friends and family, and we will treasure the incredible moments you have given us on the ice.
