Auston Matthews, center of the Toronto Maple Leafs, will have the opportunity to record a hat trick in three straight games!
He is the first player to score back-to-back hat tricks at the start of the season since Alex Ovechkin in 2017.
Auston Matthews scored his 8th career hat trick as the Maple Leafs defeated the Canadiens 6-5 in a shootout.
Matthews added to this the following game by scoring his 9th career hat trick as the Maple Leafs defeated the Wild 7-4.
Matthews signed a 4-year contract extension worth $13.25 million this past summer.
He will have his opportunity to make history when the Maple leafs face off against the rookie sensation, Connor Bedard, and the Chicago Blackhawks tonight at home, in Scotiabank Arena.
