Who Remembers This Brawl Between The Rangers And Devils?
The Rangers and Devils are going to begin their first of four battles for the season tomorrow.
The Rangers are looking for revenge after the Devils knocked the Rangers out of the playoffs in the first round last season.
I wanted to relive memory lane with a game from years ago, March 19, 2012. When Devils coach at the time, Peter DeBoer, submitted his starting lineup, he included two frequent fighters, Cam Janssen and Eric Boulton, along with Ryan Carter, to start the game.
At the time, Rangers Coach John Tortorella knew what was coming, and countered with Stu Bickel, Brandon Prust and Mike Rupp.
Tortorella employed Bickel, a defenseman, to take the opening face-off against Carter. The following ensured:
Only right after the puck dropped to start the game, this brawl began. There were three simultaneous fights.
Bickel and Carter, Prust and Janssen, and Rupp and Boulton.
Of course we aren't expecting something like this to happen tomorrow. Just to remind you how much these two teams hate each other.
Plus to pump you up for tomorrow's match-up! By the way, the Rangers won that game 4-2.
