NHL Player Safety Latest Fine On Flyers Player Is A Slap On The Wrist
The NHL Player Safety has ruled that forward Garnet Hathaway with on the Philadelphia Flyers has been fined $5000, for kneeing Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman, Zach Werenski during Thursday's season opener.
The incident happened in the second period when Hathaway hit Werenski in a knee-on-knee collision while he attempted to navigate from behind the Blue Jackets net.
Zach Werenski is expected to miss 1-2 weeks for the Blue Jackets because of the knee injury.
Of course, some fans are questioning why a suspension is not considered. Especially since a $5,000 fine, the maximum allowable, compared to an average NHL salary, is minuscule.
