Disappointing news strikes Pittsburgh Penguins veteran Kris Letang amidst surgery

With the Pittsburgh Penguins continuing to disappoint their fans and veteran players such as Sidney Crosby, for consecutive seasons as they missed the playoffs by just a few points.

This off-season could have reshaped the future of the Penguins with general manager Kyle Dubas addressing several issues, but now to add to his problems, Several of his players have recently undergone surgery.

Amongst those several names include crucial players like Kris Letang, John Ludvig and matt Nieto.

This completely ruins Letang's off-season as he will not be able to enjoy it as he usually does, he will now be worrying about his eight-week recovery period with a broken finger.

Doctor Robert Hotchkiss issued the following statement:

Letang underwent surgery to repair a fractured finger on his left hand on May 10. The surgery was performed by Dr. Robert Hotchkiss at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. The expected recovery time is eight weeks. Ludvig's surgery was a repair to the extensor tendon in his left wrist. Dr. Thomas Graham at Lehigh Valley Orthopedics performed the procedure on April 24. The expected recovery time is four to six months. Nieto underwent successful reconstructive MCL surgery on his left knee on May 2. The surgery was completed by Dr. Robert LaPrade at Twin Cities Orthopedics in Minnesota. The expected recovery time is six to seven months. All procedures were in collaboration with Penguins Head Team Physician Dr. Dharmesh Vyas of UPMC Sports Medicine.

This clearly adds another issue to the list as the Penguins aim to prepare for next year, which marks one of the very few left on Sidney Crosby's contract.
