Former NHL player and member of the Hockey Hall of fame sadly passed away
Devastating news announced today, as former Boston Bruin and member of the Hockey Hall of Fame sadly passed away.
The hockey community is struck by another tragic loss and is mourning the loss of Murray Costello.
The saddening news was confirmed by Lance Hornby of the Toronto Sun, and Hockey Canada has even confirmed the passing of Costello.
The 90-year old, spent several years in the National Hockey League, playing a total of 163 games split between the Detroit Red Wings, Boston Bruins, and the Chicago Blackhawks.
Throughout his 163 NHL games he managed to talley 32 points, 13 goals, and 19 assists.
Many would say he made his biggest impact on the NHL by leading the executives at Hockey Canada, as he severed as the organization's president for 20 years, and shaped the Hockey Hall of Fame.
A statement from Hockey Canada on the passing of Murray Costello:
«Deeply saddened to learn that long-time executive Murray Costello, who led the Canadian Amateur Hockey Association and Hockey Canada as president for two decades, passed away Saturday at the age of 90, surrounded by his family.»
On behalf of everyone at NY Rangers Insider we send our deepest condolences to the Costello family, and friends during this tragic time.
