It's been over a month since the hockey world was sent into a spiral after the sudden deaths of Columbus Blue Jackets forward Johnny Gaudreau along with his brother Matthew as they were cycling along a County Road near Sewell New Jersey. Both men were struck by a vehicle that was manned by an alleged drunk driver who is now in prison waiting to learn his fate.
This tragedy continued to unravel as the story became clear with the cancellation of Gaudreau's sister's wedding which was to take place the following day and then the revelation during his funeral at his wife is carrying another child.
Despite the grief and sorrow that has gripped the NHL, the Columbus blue jackets and the Gaudreau family the support has been off the charts as many fans showed their sympathies an support by having vigil's at both Nationwide Arena in Columbus and the Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary AB where Gaudreau was drafted and played many years prior to leaving for Columbus.
We want to continue to extend our support and sympathies to the families along with the Blue Jackets and the rest of the NHLPA have this tragedy shows how precious life truly is and that one mistake can change many lives forever.
