The New York Rangers have signed two prospects to new contract
The New York Rangers have made a surprising recall for the training camp roster.
They have recalled Blade Jenkins, and Blake Hillman from the Hartford Wolfpack to continue their PTO.
Hillman has had prior experience in the NHL playing with the Blackhawks in 2017-2018, where he'd suit up for a game with the team in four games.
Whereas Blade Jenkins hasn't seen a bit of NHL action but played 13 games with the Hartford Wolfpack scoring 3 points(1 G, 2 A).
There's a lot to like about the things Jenkins brings to the table. He has decent size and is a pest to play against, especially down low. He is as equally good a scorer as he is a playmaker. His high IQ allows him to make the correct play in order to drive the offense.Apr 1, 2018
While his offensive instincts are above average, his skating and play away from the puck are works in progress. The skating has improved but will be a point of emphasis for him at the next level. I'd also like to see him in better positions defensively. In live viewings of him, his lack of positioning cost his team some goals. His offense though is good enough to consider possible first-round consideration.

Blade Jenkins - 2018 NHL Draft Prospect Profile
Hillman played 60 games in the AHL with the Wolfpack in 2023-2024, scoring 15 points( 4 G, 11 A) and the year prior in 2022-2023, scoring only 5 points.
Hillman is a load who plays physical, is active and makes his way down low and also to mid attack zone because he wasn't afraid to shoot the puck. He also saw some time as LhRD when needed.

Hillman was invited to the Rangers training camp on a PTO on September 16, 2024. It seems he has caught Coach Laviolette's or Chris Drury's eye.
What possible purpose could the Rangers have to call up what is depth options for the team?
