NHL announced 2024 Draft lottery date
As the NHL playoffs carry on, the league has decided to set the NHL draft lottery for 2024 which will be held on May 7th. This is where teams that did not finish the playoffs and near the bottom of the league will get a chance to draft some of the best talent and find out where they will be positioned.
With the date set, there are numerous teams in the running for touted prospect Macklin Celebrini who currently plays for Boston University. The best odds are for the San Jose Sharks to land him as they hold at 18.5% but other teams like the Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks and the Columbus Blue Jackets could have a shot at landing 1st overall.
It will also be the first time for Utah NHL team owner Ryan Smith and his group to be in an NHL draft as his team will be potentially in the running for Celebrini. Utah currently has a percentage of 7.5.
Time will tell on who will land the 1st overall pick but with the San Jose Sharks in such poor shape, it's likely they will land him and hopefully for their sake they will be able to continue their rebuild.
