The Vancouver Canucks and their fan base have enjoyed this turn around season that caught many by surprise as the team was in dire straits last year.
It seemed unthinkable the team would take off as well as it has but with the change of head coach Rick Tocchet and several trades done by Patrik Allvin.
Earlier this evening, major news surfaced from NHL insider Frank Seravalli of a contract breakthrough for Canucks superstar Elias Pettersson.
This extension has had many Canucks fans on edge as it appeared that he was not preparing to sign an extension with the team.
The 25-year-old superstar has been a major part of the Canucks resurrection and after 61 games played, he had scored 29 goals, has 46 assists with 75 points and is a + 15.
It's imperative the Canucks get this deal done as they cannot let him walk away for nothing and go onto the open market.
With news of tonight, it looks like that will happen and Canucks fans can breathe a sigh of relief.
